| ARTIST STATEMENT   I like to create art that is memorable and thought provoking with a subtle wit. From a particular design concept, I usually create in a series of three to ten paintings so I can explore the variations of an artistic idea. Many of my paintings are in a colorful abstract expressionist style, however I constantly challenge myself to evolve and incorporate distinct new styles and techniques.  As a result, my painting subjects range from colorful carousel horses and jazz musicians to mysterious and cryptic science fiction gremlins.   When first visiting my studio, most people assume there is more than one artist at work.  My friends just refer to this as art from “the multiple personalities of James Homer Brown”.
