"The Visitor" grew out of the City of Troy's "Art Unhinged" recycled art project. As the former K-mart world headquarters building in Troy Michigan was about to be demolished, the 80 pound fireproof steel office doors were reclaimed to be made into works of recycled art. The pieces were to be auctioned at a charily fundraiser. Artists from around the city participated to show their innovation and creativity.
Jim was able to work on his door in the artists' studio space provided by Ford and Earl Associates. The doors has to be specially sanded and primed before paint could be applied. Also the door knob holes had to be filled before the surface would be ready for painting.
The "Visitor" in this image is the all-seeing eye in the background which is providing the energy field image that infuses the painting.
